When plans go awry

Today was a stressful day, a day of waiting, annoyances, and peace. The year is coming to a close and the deadline for having all 3 books published has been met. I stared at my now blank whiteboard and wondered, "Now what?". Then it hit me. I've reached the dreaded marketing stage. I use the word dreaded because I can't sell a thing! I once stressed all summer long gathering, cleaning, and pricing things for a yard sale. When the event came, I carefully arranged the items in an eye catching way. At the end of the day, I made ten cents. I've tried over the year to sell things, but to no avail. I end up giving things away for free.

When I thought about all that goes into marketing my insides knotted. "Do I have to, God?" I implored. He responded, "Prepare, stand still, and let me fight." I liked the stand still part, but was confused about the preparation. It seemed a bit contradictory. Action, but no action. Then today happened. I was scheduled at a local bookstore for my first book signing. Texts, social media posts, and ads were sent out. Bookmarks were made, banners created, and table cloths ordered. I was ready just not for the email saying that the books hadn't arrived. There was one shipment left to come in at the end of the day in which they might be on or so I was told. This verse came to mind, "Prepare, stand still, and let me fight".

"Ok, God. I'll proceed preparing the table and will trust that things will come through." By the end of the day, the shipment came and went with none of my books. Disappointed, I had to cancel the book signing. Even though it wasn't the answer I was looking for, I know that God is fighting for these books. They contain His story. His story of love, sacrifice, and hope. He sees the bigger picture, this battle will be won. I'm excited to see what he has in store for the Redemption of Adi trilogy.

So, if you were planning on coming to Barnes & Nobles tomorrow, this is to let you know that there will be no signing. Other events are being planned, and you will be included. Thank you for your support!
